Mano Mano
Mano Mano refers to the empty handed methods of the Filipino Martial Arts. It is derived from the family stick fighting system of Grandmaster Gregorio Tilos. This system contains the traditional empty hand method as well as includes throwing, locking, choking and seamless transition back to weapons.
Yoga
Hatha yoga consists of the use of specific postures, breathing and concentration methods to improve flexibility, strength , coordination, mobility and balance. Practice sessions are tailored to the individual It focuses upon the exploration of the individual’s physical abilities as well as limitations and guides each to challenge themselves in a manner that fosters both physical and psychological growth. Judo
Judo is a modern martial art and Olympic sport developed in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano. Master Kano spent his youth studying various systems of Jujutsu, and with the end of the feudal era, synthesized these techniques into a system which was both safer to practice and accessible to all. While there are many schools in the valley that teach the sporting methods, we are proud to be one of the few that practice it as it applies solely in self defense and no-gi application.
Pencak Silat
A blend of several Harimau systems from both Sumatra and Java dating back over 400 years. This curriculum retains the brutal efficiency Silat while crossing the lines of pure lineage. Movement patterns both standing and on the ground are practiced in a manner that will easily accommodate the desert environment, traditional and modern weapons as well as empty hand self - defense.
Taijiquan
Taijiquan is believed to have been created in the 12th century by a Taoist monk who had observed a fight between a crane and a snake. Throughout Chinese history it has proven itself as a formidable method of self defense and more recently for its wide array of health benefits, especially with it’s elderly practitioners. We practice several form of varying lengths to accommodate the student and their goals.
