“Judo is the study of techniques with which you may kill if you wish to kill, injure if you wish to injure, subdue if you wish to subdue, and, when attacked, defend yourself.”

Jigoro Kano
Founder of Judo
1889

Since the introduction of Judo to the Olympic games, it has enjoyed worldwide growth in the competitive arena. While competition has contributed to the spread of judo worldwide, it has driven the self-defense and combative aspects of this art to near extinction. Koerner Warrior Arts provides training in the use of Judo as a method of self-defense. The curriculum focuses on the entire repertoire of Judo, not just the competition friendly techniques. Use of the Judogi is limited to the initial introduction of throwing techniques, while the majority of the time is spent in practical application in self-defense scenarios. Teaching is principle based and adhere's to Judo's  fundamental principle of "Maximum Efficiency, Minimal Effort." The curriculum is constructed to accommodate beginning students, as well as more experienced Judoka and practitioners of other arts (BJJ, MMA, Karate, etc) to learn how to utilize the techniques of Judo without relying on the gi.
